Knockout!" - Josie Silver, New York Times bestselling author a luminous, heart-achingly beautiful love letter to friendship. It’s probably my favourite book, certainly my favourite of McFarlane’s."I cannot remember the last book I loved as much. It carries you on an emotional rollercoaster and then stays with you afterwards. There are some marginally unbelievable parts of the story too, but it’s a story! If you want completely believable plots then read an autobiography.

I like the narration, except the way the author says ‘yes’. It’s the true spectrum of life and emotion, and yes, it’s a romantic story and it’s chick lit, but it feels deeper than your standard stuff. This book is funny and heartbreaking, and life-affirming. It doesn’t have your typical rom com plot where you think they’re just about to get together and then something spoils it, usually because someone doesn’t just tell the truth, and eventually they sort it all out. I don’t know what it was about it that spoke to me, but I just love it.

And all the while, I kept thinking about this book, so have listened to it again. It was my first Mhairi McFarlane book and I then went on to listen to everything of hers I could possibly get through Audible. My first review of this book, I gave it 4 stars and said it was too slow to get to the action.
